CACO, an Irrigation Technology Cost Share Program for CCWCD Constituents.
CACO Program Overview
CACO will provide a cost share for the purchase of conservation technologies that increase crop yields without increasing water use. In return, CCWCD will host field demonstrations of the technology at the awarded site for the benefit of other CCWCD constituents.
The following bullets outline projects eligible for funding, though other ideas are strongly encouraged:
- Internet-based irrigation management
- Field laser leveling
- LEPA and other precision sprinkler irrigation application technologies
- Various irrigation-use maximization tools including:
- Wind shutoff switches
- Soil moisture shutoff switches
- Solar event irrigation triggers
- Evapotransporation monitors/triggers
- Surge flow valves
- Conservation tillage equipment
To participate in the CACO program:
(1) you must be a constituent with an operable well,
(2) you must be implementing a conservation technology with the goal of directly increasing your irrigation efficiency (defined as an increase in crop yield without increase in water usage),
(3) you understand that CCWCD will work with you and host demonstrations of the implemented technology for the benefit of CCWCD constituents.
(4) requested funds will not exceed $15,000
CCWCD gives priority to projects that
(1) are cost effective,
(2) use innovative, yet proven technologies,
(3) are practical and transferable to other irrigation operations, and
(4) provide a demonstrative increase in crop yield without an increase in water use.
